Spring 2009...

March- In like a lion and out like a lamb (why has no one heard of this expression? Maybe it's NY thing)
April showers turn to May showers...

I'm soo excited. Tomorrow is going to be in the 70's and Saturday is in the 80's. This weekend I will be a bridesmaid in my friend's wedding. Tomorrow is the rehearsal and rehearsal dinner. It'll be warm enough to wear a dress and heels. I can't believe this will be the 2nd time I'm a bridesmaid. My mom told me I can only be a bridesmaid three times. She said that if I'm a bridesmaid > 3 times, than no one will marry me =p hehe so I can only be bridesmaid once more. I already know when- I get to be maid of honor for my sister's wedding (well when she gets married).

I am so obsessed right now. I think my obsessions must go in cycles. I just need to wait my course... =)

Charlottesville, VA

Virginia is for lovers.  Doesn't that phrase sound familiar?  I'm not even sure where that phrase comes from.  Charlottesville is a pretty small town.  It's airport only has 2 gates.  That's right 2 gates.

It's about an hr away from Richmond, VA so I got a chance to see Marisa for dinner both nights.  She's stopped eating meat so we ate at seafood friendly places.  The first night we tried Ten, a recommendation from the receptionist at my hotel.  We weren't really impressed.  The rolls were tiny, which would be fine, if they were tasty.  I suppose they were good according to Virginian standards, but it gave me a tummy ache.  The second night we ate at Zocaros (sp?).  It was a recommendation from one of my local colleagues.  It was alright- I probably would have been more impressed if I was hungry and actually ate something; though Marisa and I did get gelato too.  Mmm gelato.  That makes everything better.  I also ate at this bar/college hangout called the Mellow Mushroom.  It was freaking awesome!! There were huge fake mushrooms in the center of the room and painted on the wall.  We also got beer for lunch.  Who doesn't love drinking Magic Hat in the Mellow Mushroom?

I'm going to go home tonight for a few hours before I have to fly out again.  I'm beginning to feel like maybe I'm spreading myself out a bit thin.  I really like doing these cases that I've been traveling for, but I've also been spending way too much time in airports (and that just can't be healthy).  Plus the fact that I need to move soon.  I need to move before the end of July and I don't even know where I want to move to, somewhere in Northern NJ. Sigh.  Also- today is my 1 year anniversary for working! Yay for making it to a year!

Castaway Sims!

I saw Mas about 2 weekends ago.  He made me a care package- Castaway sims, a really cute pink shirt with a Raymond's rabbit, rice crackers, and mushroom cookies.  I've only played Castaway sims once so far.  It's soo much fun and addictive!  I think I'll try not to play during the weekdays- or I'll stay up too late.

Mas and I met up at Andrea's wedding.  I was a bridesmaid!!  It's the first time I've even been in the wedding party.  I had so much fun! I can't believe Andrea's married.  It's insane.

I think I've adjusted to life pretty well.  Last weekend I hung out with Pam.  She drove up to my apt and we made dinner and watched a movie.  We picked a chardonnay to drink with our alfredo.  It was a bottle of Ravenwood from California.  It was delicious.  We watched Good Luck Chuck semi-drunk and ate rippled potato chips.  I'm going to meet Pam and friends next weekend in Boston.  We're going to the beer summit!  $35 for unlimited beer (I think).  Hehe  I have to make up for drinking since college.

Tomorrow I'm headed to MN for class.  I get to see my cousins and my aunts and uncles again.  It should be really fun.

Turkey day?

How is Thursday Thanksgiving already?  It doesn't seem like I've been working for 5 months now.  Wow 5 months.  It seems like a lifetime ago that I first flew to Minnesota to meet the boss and then step into my first hospital.  I can't believe I've lived in NH for 4 months... although I did just get a bed frame and a futon for my apartment last weekend.  It doesn't feel possible that it's fall already.  I haven't taken any prelims or gone on fall break.  Is this what it feels like to be an adult?  I'm not sure I'll ever really feel like an adult, no matter how old I am.

Mas will be moving out of Boston soon.  He came to pick me up from the airport on Saturday.  He surprised me with a yellow bouquet filled with roses and daisies.  I suppose it was because we were having a spat, but it was nice to see him.  I only have a few more weekends with him before he goes back to school in Pittsburgh.  As much as I've been flying recently, I don't think I've earned any free flights yet.  Well maybe with Southwest, but who knows.

Today I've been working on a powerpoint.  I'm supposed to present one of the cases I've seen for our Boston Atrial Fibrillation meeting in January.  It feels like Design again, but at the same time not quite.  I like my powerpoint so far, but I don't think it conveys the difficulty we encountered in the case.  Or the fact that it took 8 freaking hours, not including set-up.  I barely got to eat lunch that day, but it was soo cool!!  Yes... I know I am a major nerd.

I think working has kept me stressed.  Haha... I think I'm more stressed than I've been at school.  How is that possible?? I'm not quite sure, I don't think any of my friends can believe that's possible but it is.  I just recently noticed that I have more white hairs than I did at school.  I also don't think I've been sleeping well.  But I LOVE my job!

It's given me the opportunity to visit Austin, TX and Minneapolis, MN quite a bit.  I've been able to see Andrea and Jen Pai quite often and my relatives in MN.  So far I'm not sick of traveling, but I hear from my collegues that it took 2 years before they got sick of traveling.  My manager tells us that we'll each be starting in our new locations May 1st.  I'm not sure if I'll be ready working by myself quite yet.  If I'll be able to pick up all the nuances in the EKGs at 200 sweep speed.

I've got an office day today.  Thank goodness for office days, but I suppose I should get ready for the day.  I'm going to be meeting with my mentor today.  He's going to go over my presentation with me and give me some suggestions.

Yay for Vacation on Thursday and Friday!

Taxis in Newark

Guess where I am? give up... look at the title of this blog. Thank goodness my company is paying for this, it's going to be $46 + tip + toll. how does that work any ways? do you give the taxi driver toll at the toll or at the end of the trip? I guess i'll figure it out pretty quickly.

boo for traffic.
